A born and raised Revelstoke boy, Andrew knows exactly what’s up out there. He has a command of ski touring equipment like very few do (the skin pull-off without taking his skis off move being one example). Andrew does things like camp on glaciers, night-ski in the moonlight and eat chips. After all, he’s just a regular dude.

This is where you start. Avalanche Canada’s nationally recognized Avalanche Skills Training Level One or AST 1 for short is known as the prerequisite for anyone looking to get into the avalanche backcountry environment. Our BLAST courses (Backcountry Learning and Avalanche Skills Training) are based on the most advanced knowledge available to teach the fundamentals of decision making in backcountry avalanche terrain.
We provide a big picture approach and teach tips and tricks to set you up for success for when you’re out there on your own (with a friend, just perhaps not a guide).
